Zack Martin Was Asked About Micah Parsons’ Comment That Went Viral
Micah Parsons has made a name for himself in the NFL. As the linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys, Parsons has gained attention for his intense, competitive style of play and his incredible on-field talent. And although he’s only a few years into his NFL career, he’s already established himself as one of the league’s most impactful defensive players. But in his early career, Parsons has faced questions about his intensity. The biggest of which was about his ability to show emotion. Specifically, whether he’s capable of getting angry.
Fans are obsessed with how intensely Parsons plays the game. Many love his aggressive, almost reckless style, but his lack of anger in certain moments has become a hot topic. Some believe his “no-show” reaction on the sideline after his first NFL sack, where he didn’t look particularly excited, means he just doesn’t care. But in a 2023 interview with “Bleacher Report,” Parsons directly addressed the accusations, saying he “gets mad on the field,” and simply can’t act up in public or “be toxic in front of everyone.”
“I get mad, I get frustrated. I get everything inside, I’m competitive… and then there’s other stuff, like in an interview, after I do it. Do I go on Instagram? No. If it was like, ‘Y’all wanna celebrate?’ …I would,” Parsons said. He also went on to say he doesn’t believe in letting “toxic behavior… get the best” of him, suggesting he doesn’t think expressing emotions is “manly.” He just prefers to focus on improving and pushing himself. But his teammate, Zack Martin, thinks the focus on his emotions has gone too far, recently commenting on the “bullshit” accusations and criticisms being leveled against Parsons.
During a podcast appearance on “The Pivot,” with cohosts Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder, Parsons’ fellow Cowboy Martin weighed in on the criticisms and his teammate’s mentality: “It’s just such a bulls— thing, honestly,” he said, referring to the ongoing debate. He’s been a part of the NFL for several seasons now and “never in [his] time” had seen someone put under such scrutiny. And as he went on, he couldn’t help but share his perspective, making the simple but powerful statement, “Like… Micah’s got one thing on his mind and that’s winning!”
With an incredibly successful first two seasons under his belt and the backing of his teammate, Parsons may need to get accustomed to a different form of attention – attention that he seemingly doesn’t let bother him as much. Although he might not have all the fire and anger expected of someone who “gets mad” in competition, Martin has demonstrated that the Dallas Cowboy and their star linebacker just care about one thing: Winning. It may not be loud, but it’s definitely powerful. And fans might be surprised just how loud that roar becomes when Parsons brings home another Super Bowl. That’s if they can get over their need for “angry” stars.
