Galaxy S25 Colors Leak, Screen Specs Underwhelming

Galaxy S25 colors leak along with some underwhelming screen specs – Android Central

The Galaxy S24 series hasn’t even launched yet, but that doesn’t stop the leaks from coming in for its successor, the Galaxy S25 series. We already have information about what chips will power the S25 and now we have some insight into the potential colorways. It’s not too shocking that some leaks suggest Samsung may stay the course on colorways that proved popular with the S23.

The information about colorways comes from a reliable source: @UniverseIce on X (formerly known as Twitter). The tipster shares that there will be at least three core colorways:

  • Black
  • Silver
  • Pink

On top of that, UniverseIce also shares there might be two “exclusive colors,” though he didn’t specify what they might be. He does mention the green shade seen on the Galaxy S23 Ultra may make a return with the S25 Ultra.

It’s worth noting that these colors are far from confirmed, and we’re still a long way out from the S25’s launch, so they could always change. Samsung might also release some new colorways closer to launch depending on the response of the market.

More mundane S25 news: screen details

The leak also mentions that there won’t be any groundbreaking updates to the display technology for the S25 lineup. It will allegedly stick to the same OLED screens seen in the S24 line and the S23 Ultra will be equipped with the same display, which is a bit underwhelming. Given how big a step forward the iPhone 15 Pro’s Micro-LED display is predicted to be, that’s definitely a missed opportunity.

Still, all three models of the S25 series will likely have displays that can hit a 120Hz refresh rate. The standard Galaxy S25 and S25+ will likely maintain their 6.1-inch and 6.6-inch displays while the Galaxy S25 Ultra will sport a 6.8-inch panel, matching the S24 series’ current sizes. We may see some modest increases in the brightness, especially on the Galaxy S25 Ultra model.

There are some potential new features, too. Samsung may try to integrate under-display camera technology into the S25 series, which could give the company a leg up over rivals like Apple.

S25 rumors: when to expect

Samsung has announced that its Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in February 2024, suggesting the official debut of the Galaxy S25 series will take place at this time. While this isn’t set in stone, a February event date for the S25 is in line with what we’ve seen with recent Galaxy S series launches.

The S24 series is scheduled to debut sometime later this year, with preorders expected to launch before the official unveiling and a possible on-sale date in January 2024. The release cycle of the S23 means the release cycle for the S24 will overlap slightly with the S25 release cycle.

It’s still very early to predict what will be confirmed, but based on current leaks, it’s fair to say the Galaxy S25 series will be an iterative upgrade in several key areas. Samsung will need to pull out all the stops to stand out in the face of aggressive competition from Google’s Pixel series, Apple, and its own Galaxy foldables, particularly given these seemingly modest specs.
