This New Maserati Restomod Is a Stunning Resurrection of a Beloved ’90s Coupe
The Maserati 3200 GT is a car that’s been beloved for decades. But its classic styling has been outshined by its contemporary competition, even within Maserati’s own lineup. Luckily, there’s now a company dedicated to revitalizing the 3200 GT’s look, and giving it an even more desirable presence. That company is called The Project Company, and they have just unveiled their new “Tribute” take on the car.
As far as styling goes, The Project Company kept all the iconic design elements, but the execution is what truly sets this new version apart. The exterior has a modernized feel thanks to a combination of clean lines and contemporary touches, with a front bumper, grills, side skirts, and a rear bumper all reworked to achieve a sportier aesthetic that complements the iconic boomerang taillamps.
While this new iteration of the 3200 GT isn’t intended to be a full-blown restomod—with the most dramatic changes coming visually—it does get some technical upgrades under the skin. For example, the 3.2-liter V8 has been fully rebuilt and tuned to pump out more horsepower, and now features a lighter, more powerful exhaust. You’ll notice that the car’s handling has also been upgraded with improved suspension, including adjustable Öhlins coilover dampers. The car’s brake system also received attention with Brembo upgrades.
When all is said and done, this resto-mod from The Project Company does a good job of giving this Italian icon a fresh breath of life. The upgraded styling is both familiar and eye-catching, and the performance tweaks will make it an absolute blast to drive on a winding backroad. That’s a formula that we have to applaud.
