Kishan Reddy demands White Paper on Telangana’s economy

Union Minister of Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy on Tuesday demanded a white paper on the economic condition of Telangana, citing concerns over alleged financial mismanagement and deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Reddy, addressing a press conference in Hyderabad, expressed serious apprehensions about the state’s economic health and urged the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government to come clean on various issues.

“The people of Telangana deserve to know the truth about the financial status of the state. We demand a comprehensive white paper that outlines the economic performance, revenue collection, and expenditure details. The TRS government must shed light on the fiscal situation and address the concerns of the people,” he stated.

Reddy further raised concerns over the growing unemployment rate, stagnant industrial growth, and declining agriculture sector in the state. He attributed these problems to the alleged mismanagement of funds by the TRS government and criticized the state’s infrastructure development projects, claiming they have been executed without proper planning.

“Telangana’s economic potential has been squandered under the TRS government. They have failed to create jobs, attract investments, and improve the livelihood of people. We need to hold the government accountable for their economic policies and performance,” he emphasized.

Besides economic concerns, Reddy also raised alarm over the deteriorating law and order situation in Telangana. He accused the TRS government of neglecting public safety and cited recent incidents of crime and violence as evidence of the government’s failure.

“The sense of insecurity among the people is alarming. The state government needs to prioritize law and order and ensure the safety and security of citizens. The TRS government’s inaction on these issues is a serious cause for concern,” he said.

Reddy’s demand for a white paper has reignited the political debate over Telangana’s economic performance. While the TRS government has repeatedly refuted allegations of financial mismanagement, the BJP, led by Reddy, continues to target the state government on this issue.

The BJP has vowed to intensify its campaign against the TRS government and hold it accountable for its alleged failures on multiple fronts. The party has promised to raise the issue of economic mismanagement and deteriorating law and order situation in the upcoming state assembly elections, which are expected to be held in late 2023 or early 2024.

The demand for a white paper has added a new dimension to the political rivalry in Telangana. The upcoming months are expected to witness a fierce battle between the TRS and the BJP, with the focus on economic issues and public safety.
